Gourmet cat food for older cats

Gourmet's cat food range — Gold, Perle, Revelations and the rest — is built around adult cats generally rather than split out by life stage, so there is no single 'Gourmet Senior' product to point to. That does not rule the brand out for an older cat; it just means looking at texture and ingredients on individual recipes rather than a life-stage label on the pack.

What Gourmet actually offers

The range covers a wide spread of wet food styles for cats — pate, mousse, fillets in jelly or gravy, and soup-style pouches — under sub-ranges like Gold, Perle, Revelations and Mon Petit. Most of it is formulated as a complete food for adult cats without a separate kitten or senior version.

That is fairly common across the mid-range wet cat food shelf; several well-known brands run one general adult formulation rather than a full set of life-stage-specific recipes, and Gourmet sits in that camp rather than being unusual.

What suits an older cat within the range

Softer textures like pate, mousse and pouches in gravy or sauce tend to suit older cats better than anything requiring more chewing, particularly if dental issues or a reduced appetite have become a factor with age. Several Gourmet lines are built around exactly these softer, easy-to-eat textures already.

If your cat has a diagnosed condition that needs a specific senior or therapeutic formulation — kidney support being the most common example in older cats — that is a conversation for your vet rather than something a general adult wet food, Gourmet or otherwise, is designed to address.

Common questions

Does Gourmet make a senior cat food?
Not as a dedicated life-stage line — the range is formulated for adult cats generally. Some recipes, particularly the softer pate and mousse textures, suit older cats well in practice even without a 'senior' label on the pack.
Is Gourmet suitable for a cat with dental problems?
The softer pate, mousse and jelly-based recipes in the range are generally easier for a cat with dental discomfort to eat than anything drier or chunkier, though a cat showing signs of dental pain should still be seen by a vet rather than managed on diet alone.
What's the difference between Gourmet Gold and Gourmet Perle?
Both are wet cat food sub-ranges with different flavour collections and textures — Gold leans toward pate and savoury cake styles, while Perle covers fillet and delicacy-style pouches. Neither is life-stage specific; the difference is mainly in format and flavour.
Should I switch an older cat to a senior-specific food instead?
If your cat has no diagnosed condition, a general adult food with a texture they find easy to eat can suit them fine into their senior years. If they have a specific health issue, ask your vet whether a targeted therapeutic diet would suit them better than a general range.
