Chudleys feeding guide

Chudleys is a UK dry dog food range built for everyday and working dogs, sold across a handful of recipes rather than a sprawling catalogue, and the range we carry covers adult maintenance foods, a sensitive option and a genuine working formula. This guide runs through what each is for, so choosing between them is about your dog's activity level rather than guesswork.

The everyday range

The core of the range is Chudleys Classic and Chudleys Original, both complete dry foods aimed at adult dogs with ordinary activity levels rather than a specific health need or working role. They sit at the everyday end of the market — the kind of food most dogs can eat comfortably for years without any reason to look elsewhere.

Alongside the dry recipes we also carry a set of Chudleys wet variety multipacks — Chicken, Turkey & Liver, Beef, Chicken & Tripe, Chicken & Fish and a general Mixed 12-pack — which work well as a topper on dry food or as an occasional change of texture, rather than as a dog's sole diet.

Working Crunch, for dogs that need more

Chudleys Working Crunch is built for dogs doing genuine physical work — long days out, herding, or anything well beyond an average pet dog's exercise routine — and carries more calories per bowl than the standard adult recipes to match that output. Feeding it to a dog with an ordinary, low-key routine will generally mean more food than that dog actually needs.

The distinction that matters here is activity, not size. A large but sedentary dog does not need Working Crunch just because of its build, and a smaller dog doing genuinely demanding daily exercise can suit it better than its size alone would suggest.

Sensitive Lamb, for a simpler recipe

Chudleys Sensitive Lamb drops the recipe down to a single named protein, which is the usual first step for a dog that seems to react to food with a richer or more varied ingredient list — loose stools, an itchy coat, or general digestive unsettledness with no other obvious cause.

As with any change for a dog showing signs of sensitivity, introduce it gradually alongside the current food over a week or so rather than switching overnight, and if problems persist once the new food is properly settled in, that is worth raising with your vet rather than working through the rest of the range by trial and error.

Common questions

Is Chudleys a good everyday dog food?
Chudleys Classic and Original are straightforward, everyday complete foods suited to adult dogs with ordinary activity levels. They are not a premium or specialist range, but that is exactly what makes them a sensible choice for a dog with no particular dietary need.
What is the difference between Chudleys Classic and Working Crunch?
Working Crunch carries more calories to suit dogs doing real physical work, while Classic and Original are built for an average pet dog's activity level. Feeding Working Crunch to a dog without that level of exercise usually means feeding more than the dog needs.
Is Chudleys Sensitive Lamb suitable for a dog with allergies?
It's a single-protein recipe, which is a sensible starting point for a dog showing signs of a food sensitivity, but it is not a guaranteed fix for every dog. If symptoms continue once the food is properly settled in, that's worth discussing with your vet rather than working through further food changes alone.
