Cold-pressed dry dog food
Cold-pressed dog food is dry kibble made by pressing ingredients together at a much lower temperature than standard extrusion, which the brand behind it argues keeps more of the original nutrients intact. We stock Forthglade's cold-pressed range, in both a grain-inclusive and two grain-free recipes.
You might also want to browse dry food for dogs, dog coats and jumpers and bowls that slow fast eaters down.
The recipes we stock
Forthglade Cold Pressed Natural Turkey is soft enough to mix with water for young pups, and suitable for dogs from two months old. Forthglade Cold Pressed Grain Free Duck combines duck with fruit and botanicals, and Forthglade Cold Pressed Grain Free Salmon is built around fresh and dried salmon, giving two different single-protein options for dogs on a grain-free diet.
All three come in more than one bag size, which is worth checking before you order if you are trying a cold-pressed food for the first time and would rather buy a smaller bag to see how your dog gets on with it.
How it differs from standard kibble
Standard dry food is typically extruded at high heat and pressure, while cold-pressed kibble is made at a much lower temperature, which the brand says helps retain more of the natural nutrients in the ingredients compared with high-heat processing. It still needs the same storage care as any dry food — kept sealed and dry rather than left open to the air.
Cold-pressed food is not automatically better suited to a dog with a sensitive stomach just because of the processing method — that comes down to the actual ingredients and protein source, so a dog with a known sensitivity should be introduced to any new food gradually regardless of how it was made.

Common questions
- What does 'cold-pressed' actually mean for dog food?
- It refers to the manufacturing method — ingredients are pressed together at a much lower temperature than standard extruded kibble, which the brand argues helps retain more of the natural nutrients compared with high-heat processing, rather than describing a different set of ingredients.
- Is cold-pressed food better for dogs with a sensitive stomach?
- Not automatically — that depends on the actual ingredients and protein source rather than the processing method alone, so introduce any new food, cold-pressed or otherwise, gradually if your dog has a known sensitivity.
- Can puppies eat cold-pressed dog food?
- The Forthglade Cold Pressed Natural Turkey recipe is suitable from two months old and soft enough to mix with water for young pups, but always check the specific recipe's age guidance before feeding it to a very young puppy.
- How should I store cold-pressed dry food?
- The same way as any dry dog food — kept sealed in its bag or an airtight container, away from damp and direct heat, rather than left open to the air, which can affect freshness and texture over time.
