What a tray gives you that a pouch or can doesn't
A tray is generally a single, complete portion, so there's less guessing about how much to spoon out compared with a large can meant for more than one meal. The wide, shallow shape also means less digging around with a spoon and an easier tray to rinse than a deep can.

How to choose
Texture is the first real decision: a terrine (pâté-like) tray suits a cat who prefers something smoother, while gravy and jelly trays suit one who likes to lap up the sauce first. Common questions
- Are foil trays better than pouches?
- Neither is objectively better — it comes down to preference and practicality. Trays tend to be a touch easier to portion and less messy to open than a pouch, but a pouch takes up less bin space and is easier to carry on a trip, so the choice is mostly about which suits your routine.
- Can I feed a whole tray in one go?
- Most trays in this range are sized as one complete serving for an adult cat, but portion sizes vary between brands and recipes, so check the feeding guidance on the individual pack rather than assuming every tray is the same size.
- Do trays need refrigerating once opened?
- Any unfinished wet food should go straight in the fridge, covered, and be used within the timeframe stated on the pack — usually within a day or two. If your cat won't finish a tray in one sitting, that's worth factoring into which size or format you choose.
