Full description

Not every pouch in a kitten range is a full meal, and it's worth checking which kind you're buying before assuming a whole case is interchangeable with a complete food.

Applaws build this from tuna fillet at 46%, with rice flour and a vegetable gelling agent to set the jelly. Unlike some other pouches in Applaws' kitten range, this one is described as a complementary wet food for kittens up to 12 months old, meaning it's meant to sit alongside a complete diet rather than replace it. It analyses at 12% protein, 1% fat, 0.1% fibre and 1% ash.

On complete versus complementary. This particular pouch is labelled complementary rather than complete, unlike Applaws' chicken kitten pouch, which is a complete food. If you're relying on this as your kitten's whole meal rather than a topper, it's worth checking that distinction before you buy.

Who it's for: owners who already feed a complete kitten diet and want a tuna-based topper to add variety or interest, rather than a standalone meal.

Applaws Natural Wet Kitten Food, Tuna Fillet in Jelly — 24 x 70g Tins

Why we chose it

46% tuna fillet is a genuinely high named-fish content for a pouch this size, which matters if variety is the point rather than a full meal. Being upfront that it's complementary rather than complete is more honest than some ranges manage.
