Gut and skin are more closely linked in dogs than most people expect, which is why a supplement aimed at one so often mentions the other in the same breath. This is a plain powder you stir through food at mealtimes, made to support normal gut flora and healthy skin, and it comes with a measuring scoop so the daily dose stays the same each time rather than being a guess with whatever teaspoon is nearest.

Powder rather than a tablet is the practical choice for a dog who can spot a pill hidden in anything. Mixed through wet food it disappears completely, and on dry food it helps to add a spoonful of something wet so it clings rather than settling at the bottom of the bowl. Consistency is what matters with anything working on gut flora. A daily scoop over weeks does something that a sporadic one never will, so attach it to a routine you already keep.

• Powdered daily supplement for dogs
• Made to support normal gut flora and healthy skin
• 150g tub
• Includes a measuring scoop
• Mixes into wet or dry food at mealtimes

Being realistic about supplements. A supplement supports a diet, it does not treat a condition. If your dog has itchy skin, recurrent ear trouble or a gut that keeps going wrong, that needs a vet and a diagnosis rather than a scoop of powder, since food allergies and yeast overgrowth both need identifying before anything helps. Introduce it gradually over several days rather than starting straight in at a full scoop.

Who it's for: Owners adding steady, everyday gut and skin support to a diet that is already sound.
