Pet coats and jumpers are sized mainly by back length, with chest girth as a second check. Back length matters most for coverage.
How to measure
- Back length: measure along the spine from the base of the neck (collar area) to the base of the tail.
- Chest: measure around the widest part of the ribcage, behind the front legs.
- If the two measurements suggest different sizes, choose by back length and allow for the chest.

Full description
Ears are where a small pet loses heat first, and they are the one part a body coat never covers. That is the argument for a hat, silly as it looks. On a thin-coated dog, or a cat who insists on going out in January regardless, a padded hood over the ears does something no coat can. The coat here is cotton-padded and cut for warmth rather than weatherproofing, which is a different job.
Cotton padding is warm, breathable and washes well, but it is also absorbent, so treat this as a dry-cold layer for frosty mornings and clear afternoons rather than a wet-weather one. It suits both dogs and cats, and the pieces are genuinely light, between 50 g and 100 g depending on which you order and in which size. Two sizes, M and L, in blue. Anything worn on a cat should be tried indoors first, on a day when nobody is in a hurry.
