A dog that mats easily is usually carrying two different coat problems at once — loose top hair that needs lifting off, and a dense undercoat that needs raking out — and one tool rarely does both well.

This is a 2-in-1 grooming tool combining a double-row rake for the undercoat with a shedding blade for the top coat, so both jobs are covered without switching tools mid-groom. Rolling pins built into the rake head are there to stop the teeth snagging on tangled hair, and the handle has a soft, ergonomic grip.

• 2-in-1 tool: double row rake plus shedding blade
• Rolling pins on the rake head to help prevent snagging
• Ergonomic, soft grip handle
• Aimed at long-haired breeds and coats prone to matting

One thing worth knowing. Wahl name Bearded Collies, Lhasa Apsos and long-haired Yorkshire Terriers as example breeds this suits, but they do not publish exact blade dimensions or a weight for the tool, so we can't tell you how it compares in the hand to another rake without holding one.

Who it's for: owners of a long-haired or double-coated dog that mats or sheds heavily, who want one tool for both the loose top coat and the undercoat rather than buying a rake and a blade separately.
