Most everyday dog foods make the same three or four promises, so the one worth checking is what's actually in the bag rather than what's on the front of it. Wagg's Meaty Goodness Chicken is a straightforward complete food built around chicken and vegetables rather than a premium positioning.

The recipe leads with meat meal and gravy at 26% (minimum 5% chicken), alongside whole grain wheat and barley, vegetable fibre, maize and 2% chicken fat as a source of Omega 6, with whole linseeds for Omega 3 and 2.3% dried green peas and beet pulp. Chicory root at 1000mg/kg and yucca at 150mg/kg round out the recipe.
