Full description

Cranberry shows up in human urinary health products for the same reason it turns up here — it's one of the better-established plant ingredients for that particular job, rather than a random flavour choice.

VetIQ build these from poultry meal, rye flour, canola oil, corn starch and milk derivatives, with dried cranberry and apple, catnip, DL-Methionine, inulin and L-Carnitine among the functional additions aimed at urinary health. They're wheat and soya free, high in meat content, under 2 calories a bite, and VetIQ's guide is 6 treats a day for a small cat and 12 for a larger one. It analyses at 28.9% protein, 22.7% fat, 6.2% ash and 8.3% moisture.

On what this is. These are formulated with ingredients associated with urinary health, not a treatment for an existing urinary problem — a cat showing signs of straining, blood in urine or frequent visits to the litter tray needs a vet, not a change of treat.

Who it's for: owners of a cat prone to urinary issues who want a daily treat with a relevant ingredient profile, alongside a vet's advice rather than instead of it.

Why we chose it

Cranberry and DL-Methionine are genuine, established ingredients for urinary health rather than a vague 'wellness' claim, and the catnip inclusion is a nice touch for actually getting a cat to eat it. Wheat and soya free is a sensible baseline for daily use.
