A cat's breath is one of the first things owners notice going wrong, and a treat built around a creamy filling exists specifically because cats will take that far more readily than a dry powder brushed onto their teeth.

VetIQ build these from poultry meal, rye flour, canola oil, maize and milk derivatives, with rosemary extract, parsley seed oil and clove oil among the functional additions, delivered through a creamy filling rather than a hard biscuit. They're high in meat content and free from wheat and soya, at less than 2 calories a bite, and VetIQ's guide is 6 treats a day for a small cat and 12 for a larger one. It analyses at 25% protein, 23% fat, 7% ash and 9% moisture.

• High meat content, wheat and soya free
• Creamy filling with functional ingredients
• Protein 25%, fat 23%
• Crude ash 7%, moisture 9%
• Under 2 calories a bite
• 65G pack

On weight management. These are pitched at cats on a weight plan, particularly sterilised cats, on the strength of the low calorie count — but a treat is still a treat, and VetIQ's own guidance is to feed fresh water alongside them and stick to the daily amount given.

Who it's for: owners of a cat with noticeable breath or plaque build-up who want a treat-format option rather than brushing.
