A dog that reacts badly to red meat or poultry leaves its owner hunting for a recipe that removes the question rather than just changing the protein, and a food built entirely from plants does exactly that.

V-dog's Crunchy Nuggets are built from a Whole Foods Blend at 54% (whole wheat, dried peas, whole corn, sweet potato, whole linseed, rice and alfalfa) plus a Vegan Protein Blend at 26.5% (corn protein meal and nutritional yeast), alongside vegetable fibre, sunflower oil, minerals, vegan stock and a botanical blend including seaweed, chicory extract, spinach, blueberry, parsley, rosemary and yucca extract. V-dog describe it as a nutritionally complete, balanced, 100% vegan maintenance food for adult dogs.

• Complete, 100% vegan maintenance food for adult dogs
• Protein 24%, fat content 12%, crude fibre 4%, crude ash 8%
• Calcium 1.2%, phosphorus 0.9%
• Whole Foods Blend 54% and Vegan Protein Blend 26.5%
• Taurine at 1500mg and L-Carnitine at 250mg per kg added
• 15KG bag

What the ingredient list doesn't finish. The composition sheet the makers supply us cuts off mid-word inside the botanical blend, so everything up to yucca extract above is verified and there may be one or two more items in that blend we haven't been given. V-dog also say the recipe is Vegetarian Society UK, Vegan Society UK and PETA approved, which is their claim rather than something we've checked ourselves.

Who it's for: Dogs on an elimination diet for a suspected meat allergy, dogs with sensitive skin or digestion, and owners who simply want a vegan bowl for reasons of their own - V-dog pitch this squarely at adult dogs rather than puppies.
