Harnesses are sized by the chest (girth) — the measurement around the widest part of the ribcage, just behind the front legs.

How to measure

Stand your pet up squarely.
Wrap a soft tape around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
Keep two fingers under the tape so the fit is snug, not tight.
If your pet is between sizes, choose the larger one.

Getting it right is not complicated: you measure the chest girth, right behind the front legs, and you fit to that number rather than to a dog's weight or their breed. Do that and a no-pull harness like this one takes the strain off the throat and puts it across the chest, where a dog can actually carry it.

It is built from a durable nylon webbing with reflective detailing for dark mornings and winter evenings, and the straps adjust so the fit can be tuned to the individual dog rather than approximated from a chart. The original listing calls it explosion proof, which is a translation of a phrase meaning escape-resistant; it describes a fit a dog cannot reverse out of backwards, not anything more dramatic. The tropical print comes in grass green and in grey.
