Most travel bowls solve the wrong half of the problem. They pack down small and they hold water, and then your dog empties one in about four seconds flat and looks at you for more. This one folds away like the rest, but the base is moulded into a raised paw maze, so food or water has to be worked around the ridges rather than inhaled in a single go.

It is food-grade silicone throughout, which is what makes the folding possible. It collapses down to a disc instead of creasing, springs back into shape, and rinses clean under a tap without holding onto smells the way a fabric bowl does. A clip lets it hang off a lead, a rucksack strap or a belt loop, and that is the difference between a bowl you own and a bowl you actually have with you at the moment your dog needs it.

On what it is best at. A maze base slows a dog down with dry food and does very little with wet, and for water it is simply a bowl, since the ridges neither help nor hinder. At 18cm across it suits cats and small to medium dogs, while a large dog will empty it and want it filled again. Silicone is also light, so on a windy day an empty one will move about.
