A D-ring stitched to a coat is anchored in fabric rather than in a load-bearing chest strap, and it is fine for a dog who walks on a loose lead. Size guide & how to measure

Harnesses are sized by the chest (girth) — the measurement around the widest part of the ribcage, just behind the front legs.

How to measure

Stand your pet up squarely.
Wrap a soft tape around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
Keep two fingers under the tape so the fit is snug, not tight.
If your pet is between sizes, choose the larger one.

Full description

One layer instead of two is the whole appeal here. A padded coat with a lead ring stitched into the back means no harness underneath, no straps compressing the padding, and no ten-minute negotiation at the front door with a cold dog and a tangle of nylon. The zip closes over the back, the ring sits on top, and you clip on and go.

The outer is windproof, which does more on a British winter walk than thickness alone. Still air trapped in the quilting is what keeps a dog warm, and wind stripping that air away is what makes a cold day feel far worse than the thermometer says. The quilted body carries the insulation, the zip makes it quick on and off, and the size run is unusually wide, from S right through to 5XL, in red or brown.
