Full description

A working dog resting between seasons still needs feeding every day, and a food pitched for genuine everyday maintenance — not for a dog in full training and not a puppy formula either — is exactly what that gap calls for.

Skinner's Field & Trial Maintenance is built from maize, wheat, poultry meat meal, barley, poultry fat, beet pulp and vitamins and minerals — a plain recipe without the added joint supplement Skinner's include in their Maintenance Plus version. It's described on Skinner's official page as a complete working dog food, with slightly lower protein and fat levels than their more active recipes.

Crude protein 18%, crude oils and fats 11%, crude ash 5.6%, crude fibres 2.6%
Energy content 358 kcal per 100g
No added joint supplement, unlike Skinner's Maintenance Plus
Complete working dog food
15KG sack

On the "Plus" version. Skinner's also sell a Maintenance Plus recipe with the same 18% protein and 11% fat but with a joint aid supplement added. This plain Maintenance version is the same nutritional base without that addition, so it's the cheaper route if your dog doesn't need the extra joint support.

Who it's for: owners of a working dog in light work, or resting outside the working season, who want straightforward everyday nutrition without paying for an added joint supplement they don't need.

Skinner's Field & Trial Maintenance

Why we chose it

This is the plain version of Skinner's Maintenance range, and buying it over the Plus recipe is a straightforward saving if your dog has no particular joint concern. It's still a genuine complete food at 18% protein, not a diluted or bargain recipe just because it skips the extra ingredient.
