Glucosamine and chondroitin used to be the kind of thing you paid extra for in a specialist senior food, so finding them written into a standard adult recipe says something about how far down the range that expectation has moved.

This is a chicken and brown rice recipe for adult dogs of all breeds, built around a minimum of 30% dried chicken and 26% brown rice, with chicken fat, chicken gravy and beet pulp alongside. Protein is 24%, oil 16%, crude fibre 3.7% and crude ash 8%, with calcium at 1.19% and phosphorus at 0.88%. Glucosamine, MSM and chondroitin are all in the ingredient list for joint support, alongside salmon oil and linseed for omega fatty acids and MOS/FOS for digestive support.

• Protein 24%, oil 16%, crude fibre 3.7%, crude ash 8%
• Calcium 1.19%, phosphorus 0.88%
• Glucosamine, MSM and chondroitin included
• Omega-6 3.16%, omega-3 1.03%
• Suitable for all breeds of adult dog
• 2kg or 12kg bag

On the oil figure. At 16%, oil content is towards the top end of what you'd expect from an everyday maintenance food rather than a lighter one. Worth checking against how active your dog actually is before switching over, particularly if weight is already something you're watching.

Who it's for: adult dogs of any breed whose owners want joint-support ingredients built into the everyday food rather than added separately as a supplement.
