The least pleasant part of fetch is not the walking, it's picking a slobber-covered ball back up off the grass. Most owners solve it by ignoring the problem until their hand smells of dog.

Chuck 'N' Play is a scoop-and-throw tool rather than a ball on its own: you use it to pick the ball up and launch it, so the ball never has to touch your hand at either end of the throw. It's made from colourful, quality plastic, chosen so it holds up to being thrown harder and further without cracking.

On what's not supplied. the makers give us no overall length or the size of ball it's built to take, so we can't tell you whether it suits a tennis ball specifically or a wider range of sizes.

Who it's for: owners who play fetch often enough that touching the ball has stopped being fun, and want the throw to go further than an arm alone manages.
