A hard plastic frisbee is fine until a dog actually catches it mid-air, at which point the material doing the catching matters more than how far it flies. Foam solves that by being soft on the way in as well as light on the way out.

Rosewood's Battersea Foam Flyer is made from durable yet soft, lightweight foam, designed so dogs of any size can comfortably fetch and retrieve it, aimed at strengthening the bond between dog and owner through interactive play.

• Durable, lightweight foam construction
• Soft enough for comfortable catching
• Suitable for all dogs
• Designed for walks and retrieval training
• Part of the Battersea range

On the details. The card gives us the material and its general suitability but no dimensions or weight figure, so we cannot confirm how it compares in size to a standard frisbee. As with any thrown toy, we'd keep an eye on wear at the edges over time.

Who it's for: owners of any size of dog who want a frisbee-style toy that is genuinely comfortable to catch, not just to throw.
