Hard floors are where bedding fails. A plain fleece blanket on laminate becomes a sledge: the dog stands up, the bedding shoots out from under them, and after a few weeks of that an older dog stops trusting the surface altogether. A backed fleece stays where you put it, and that is most of the value here. The leopard print, the tartan and the Union Jack are there because bedding has to live in your house too.

The fleece itself is a soft polyester over a non-slip backing, made in the UK from recycled material and cut to a usable size rather than sold as one awkward rectangle you then have to fold in three. It washes at 40 degrees and dries quickly, which is what really decides whether bedding gets washed as often as it should. The usual advice is to buy two of the same size: one in the bed, one in the machine.
