Most feeding guides on a can are a single line covering every size of dog, which is roughly as useful as one shoe size for every foot. A table that actually breaks the amount down by weight band, and by whether you're feeding wet alone or mixing it with kibble, is doing more of the work for you.

This is PRO PLAN's Everyday Nutrition Turkey, a 400G complete wet food. The ingredients are meat and animal derivatives (of which turkey is 14%), derivatives of vegetable origin, minerals, vegetables (0.5% dried green bean, equivalent to 4.5% green bean) and various sugars. Moisture is 81%, protein 8.5%, fat content 4%, crude ash 2.5% and crude fibre 0.3%. The printed feeding table gives, for a dog of 1-10kg, 0.5-2 cans wet-only or 1/4-1 can mixed with 15-85g of kibble; for 10-25kg, 2-3.5 cans or 1-2 cans plus 85-140g of kibble; and for 25-45kg, 3.5-5.5 cans or 2-3 cans plus 140-205g of kibble. PRO PLAN describe it as formulated with fibre to support healthy digestion.

Reading past the name. Turkey makes up 14% of the meat and animal derivatives in the can — the majority ingredient by name is unspecified meat and animal derivatives. It's a genuine complete food; the turkey is a flavour rather than the bulk of the recipe.

Who it's for: owners of adult dogs who want a canned complete food with a properly worked-out feeding table rather than a single generic line.
