Two rings joined together is a better shape than one, for a reason that has nothing to do with the dog. It gives you something to hold that is nowhere near the teeth. Tug becomes a safe game to play with a dog who grabs enthusiastically, and there is a second handle available for a second person, or a second dog, when things get competitive.

The toy is moulded in TPR, a springy rubber compound that resists tearing and returns to shape after a chew, with raised nubs across the whole surface. Those nubs are the dental part of the story. They scrape at the tooth surface and press into the gum line while the dog works at it, which is not a substitute for brushing but is more useful than a smooth toy doing nothing.

One correction on size. Previous copy said this came in more than one size. It does not: 16cm is the only option, and at that length it is a small to medium dog's toy. A Labrador will find it a mouthful rather than a handful. As with any rubber toy, check it over regularly and replace it once the nubs have worn flat or a ring has been chewed through.
