Pet coats and jumpers are sized mainly by back length, with chest girth as a second check. Back length matters most for coverage.
How to measure
- Back length: measure along the spine from the base of the neck (collar area) to the base of the tail.
- Chest: measure around the widest part of the ribcage, behind the front legs.
- If the two measurements suggest different sizes, choose by back length and allow for the chest.

Full description
The whole costume here is a small pumpkin on an elasticated band, and that is deliberately as far as it goes. Nothing covers the body, nothing restricts the legs, and there is no chest panel to size. That makes it one of the few dress-up items that works equally well on a cat and on a dog, since neither has to accept a garment they cannot move in, and it is on and off again in a couple of seconds.
The elastic is what does the fitting, stretching over the head and settling behind the ears, and elastic is also the reason to keep this to short spells. Anything with tension around the head should be checked with two fingers under the band and removed as soon as your pet starts pawing at it. Because it is a single accessory rather than an outfit, there is only one option to choose: no sizes, no colours, no combinations.
