How to measure

Full description
Dogs shed heat by panting and through their paws, and on a close, humid day that is simply not enough. An evaporative vest borrows the mechanism we use ourselves. Soak it, wring it out, fit it, and as the water evaporates off the mesh it draws heat away from the skin underneath for as long as the fabric stays damp.
The fabric is an open mesh rather than a solid layer, so air passes straight through it and the vest breathes instead of trapping warm air against the coat. An adjustable buckle strap holds it in place while your dog moves, and a D-ring on the top takes a lead, so you are not fitting a harness over the top of a wet vest. Bright colours help with visibility as well.

A cooling vest is not a licence to walk in the heat. It works while it is damp, it works less well in high humidity, and it does nothing about hot pavement under the paws. On a genuinely hot day the answer is still to walk early or late. Rewet it during longer outings rather than letting it dry out on the dog.
