Buying wings, a bow tie and a hat from three different places usually leaves you with three things that do not match. These are designed together, so a dog can wear the full look or just one piece, which is what most people end up doing once the wings have been shaken off twice. Eleven options cover wings in three sizes and two colours, plus hats and bow ties in universal fits.

The wings are the piece that needs thinking about. Anything strapped across the shoulders changes how a dog moves, and most will freeze, walk oddly or try to reverse out of them during the first minute. The bow tie is far easier to live with: it fastens at the neck, weighs almost nothing, and still gives you a seasonal photograph from a dog who wants no part of the rest of it.

• Three pieces available: bat wings, bow tie and a small hat
• Wings in small, medium and large, in black or orange
• Hats in black or orange, universal fit
• Bow ties in black or purple, universal fit
• Eleven variations in total
• Pieces work together or on their own

Please check the variant list before ordering. The title calls this a three-piece set, but the options are listed individually as wings, hat or bow tie, so it is not clear that one price buys all three. No wing measurements are published, so send us the chest girth behind the front legs.

Who it's for: Owners who want a coordinated Halloween look, with a bow tie to fall back on when the wings are refused.
