Six hinged panels and a door, which is the arrangement that suits most homes: enough sides to make a proper enclosure in the middle of a room, few enough that it does not swallow the whole floor. Because the panels pivot, the same pen works as a rectangle against a wall, an L into a corner, or a hexagon wherever there is space.

The door is the part people underestimate. Stepping over a panel forty times a day is how a pen ends up folded behind the sofa after a fortnight; a door you walk through is how it stays in use. Panels fold together for storage, so it can be put away between visitors or taken to someone else's house.

• Six panels including one with a built-in door
• Reconfigures into different shapes to suit the room
• Suitable for indoor and outdoor use
• Folds down for storage and transport

Who it's for: Puppy owners and small-dog households wanting a reconfigurable pen with a proper door.
