Six panels is the size most homes actually have room for. Set as a rectangle it gives a 160 x 80cm footprint — about the floor area of a two-seater sofa — and because the panels hinge, you can just as easily run it as an L into a corner or a hexagon in the middle of a room, letting the walls you already have do some of the work.

About the height. 60cm keeps in a puppy or a small dog up to about 40cm at the shoulder. It will not keep in a dog who has decided to jump it, and it is not a roof — treat it as a boundary for animals you are still in the room with, not secure containment for one you are leaving.
