A flavour sprayed onto a chew wears off after the first few sessions, which is why it matters whether a flavour is on the surface or worked all the way through it.

This chew is made from tough nylon with bacon flavour infused throughout rather than sprayed, dipped or coated — so the taste doesn't disappear as the surface wears down. Textured nubs and ridges run across it, with tiny bristles that raise up during chewing to help clean teeth, and the Medium size measures 216 x 117 x 35mm, weighs 0.09kg and is rated for dogs up to 16kg.

• Nylon with bacon flavour infused throughout, not coated
• Textured nubs and ridges; bristles raise during chewing for dental cleaning
• Medium: 216 x 117 x 35mm, weight 0.09kg
• For dogs up to 16kg
• Clean with mild detergent and warm water; scrape on a rough surface to refresh flavour
• Non-edible chew — inspect regularly and replace when worn

On what non-edible means. Nylabone are explicit that this is not intended for consumption, and describe any pieces that do separate as no bigger than a grain of rice — but that's a description of intended wear, not a guarantee of how a specific dog's teeth will affect it. Inspect it regularly and replace it once the knuckle ends wear down or it gets too small to chew safely.

Who it's for: owners of dogs up to 16kg who chew hard enough to wear through a flavour coating quickly, and who want the taste to last as long as the chew does.
