Take the water out of a raw meat mix and every remaining number in it goes up, which is the whole story behind why this one lists 57% fat — a figure that would look alarming on a wet food and is simply what freeze-drying does.

This is a complete food built around 75% lamb, with pumpkin, broccoli, spinach and blueberry alongside it, plus glucosamine and chondroitin sulphate and a scattering of named botanicals. Freeze-drying removes almost all the moisture, which is why it stores at room temperature rather than needing a freezer.

• 225G pack, complete food, stored in the cupboard rather than the freezer
• 75% lamb, with pumpkin, broccoli, spinach and blueberry
• Protein 23%, fat 57%, fibre 3.5%, ash 11%, moisture 2% (as fed)
• Glucosamine and chondroitin sulphate included
• Fortified with vitamins A, D3, E and biotin, plus rosemary oil extract as a natural antioxidant
• Nutriment's chart gives around 90g a day for a 10kg dog, with other weights on the pack

On the fat figure. 57% fat looks extreme next to a normal wet food, but that's what freeze-drying does — removing nearly all the moisture (2% as fed here) concentrates everything else that's left, fat included. It is not a low-fat food, so it's worth weighing feeding amounts against a dog's actual daily allowance rather than judging the percentage in isolation.

Who it's for: owners wanting a complete raw diet without freezer space to store it — Nutriment suggest it for camping, travel or topping up another format — who are comfortable feeding a higher-fat food than a standard kibble.
