Nutriment Freeze Dried Raw Food Lamb

Take the water out of a raw meat mix and every remaining number in it goes up, which is the whole story behind why this one lists 57% fat — a figure that would look alarming on a wet food and is simply what freeze-drying does.

This is a complete food built around 75% lamb, with pumpkin, broccoli, spinach and blueberry alongside it, plus glucosamine and chondroitin sulphate and a scattering of named botanicals. Freeze-drying removes almost all the moisture, which is why it stores at room temperature rather than needing a freezer.

On the fat figure. 57% fat looks extreme next to a normal wet food, but that's what freeze-drying does — removing nearly all the moisture (2% as fed here) concentrates everything else that's left, fat included. It is not a low-fat food, so it's worth weighing feeding amounts against a dog's actual daily allowance rather than judging the percentage in isolation.
