Feeding raw usually means finding room in a freezer that was already full, which is the reason a lot of owners who like the idea never actually start. Freeze-drying sidesteps that: the food is raw, but the water has been taken out rather than frozen in, so a 225g pack sits in a cupboard rather than a chest freezer.

Nutriment make this one from chicken (75%), with pumpkin, carrot, courgette and cranberry making up most of the rest, plus small amounts of dried seaweed, glucosamine, ginger and turmeric. On the label it's a complete food: protein 55%, fat 17.5%, ash 9%, fibre 4%, moisture down at 3.5%. A 10kg dog is guided at roughly 90g a day, with the full guide by weight shown on the pack.

• Chicken 75%, with pumpkin, carrot, courgette and cranberry
• Protein 55%, fat 17.5%, fibre 4%, moisture 3.5%
• A 10kg dog: around 90g a day (full guide on pack)
• Glucosamine (0.05%) and chondroitin included
• Prebiotic yeast product and dried chicory root
• No freezer required for storage

What the pack doesn't tell us. We're not supplied with a rehydration instruction — whether Nutriment mean this to be fed dry, soaked, or either — nor a calorie count, so working out a daily amount by energy rather than weight isn't possible from what we hold. If either detail changes how you'd feed it, it's worth checking the pack when it lands.

Who it's for: owners who like the idea of raw feeding but don't have freezer space for it, plus anyone who travels or camps with their dog and wants a raw meal that survives a warm boot for a few days.
