It muffles, it does not soundproof
A snood helps a mildly noise-sensitive dog cope; it will not fix a genuine noise phobia, and a dog that panics at fireworks needs a plan from your vet or a behaviourist alongside it. Fit it snug but never tight, so two fingers slide underneath easily, and take it off for unsupervised time, particularly with a dog that chews fabric.
Why we chose it
Spaniels eat with their ears in the bowl and then trail them through everything else all day. This gathers them back against the neck. It also muffles a bit of noise, which some dogs find helps at the hoover.

Size guide & how to measure
Manufacturer's own sizing for this soothing head/ear snood. Size by the dog's head circumference - the fleece is stretchy, so each size covers a range.
How to measure
- Measure the head circumference around the widest part of the head, taking in both ears (the maker's diagram shows the loop running behind the ears and under the jaw).
- Length is the snood's own length from front to back opening.
- Pick the size whose head-circumference range contains your measurement.
| Size | Head circumference | Length | Product weight/g | Packing size/cm |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S | 24-40cm | 14cm | 20 | 9*12*0.5 |
| M | 30-50cm | 18 cm | 30 | 11*15*0.5 |
| L | 45-75cm | 25cm | 45 | 14*20*0.5 |
Measurements are the manufacturer's own figures. "Packing size/cm" is the maker's flat-pack packaging size, not the product's worn size. The same maker also prints the sizing in inches on its sizing graphic - S circumference 10-16" / length 6", M 12-20" / 7", L 18-30" / 10" - which matches the centimetre figures above. If between sizes, size up.

Full description
Spaniels and other long-eared dogs eat with their ears in the bowl, and those same ears then trail through everything else for the rest of the day. A snood is a simple tube of stretchy fabric that gathers the ears back against the neck and holds them there: out of the food, out of the water, and out of the way at bath time and during grooming.
The second job it does is quieter and less obvious. Covering the ears takes the edge off sudden noise, so for a dog that startles at fireworks, the hoover or a slamming door, a snood can be the difference between hiding behind the sofa and settling on it. It is polyester, light enough at 20 to 45 grams that most dogs forget they have it on, and stretchy enough to pull on without wrestling the head through.
- Stretchy polyester tube covering ears and neck
- Keeps long ears out of food and water
- Helps muffle sudden, startling noises
- Protects the ears during grooming and bathing
- Sizes small, medium and large in blue, purple or pink
- 20g to 45g depending on size

Who it's for: Spaniels, setters, dachshunds and other long-eared dogs, and any dog that jumps out of its skin at the hoover.
