Duck sits outside the usual chicken-or-beef choice most sensitive-stomach dog foods offer, which makes it a useful option to try for a dog that's already been through the more common single proteins without much luck.

Naturo's Duck recipe is built on 50% duck, with 8% fruit and vegetables from dried peppers, peas and sweet potato, set in a herb gravy with sunflower, flaxseed and salmon oils, dried kelp and dried basil among the minor ingredients. Protein is 7%, fat 5.5%, crude fibre 0.5%, ash 3.8% and moisture 81%, at 82 kcal per 100g can.

What the label does not say. As with any wet food, the protein and fat percentages here read much lower than a dry kibble's because of the high moisture content — 81% — so they are not directly comparable figures between the two formats. Naturo's feeding guide is a starting point, to be adjusted for your own dog's condition and activity.

Who it's for: owners of a dog with sensitivities to grain or gluten looking to try a less common protein than chicken or beef, bought as a 12-can case.
