Duck is one of the less common proteins on a supermarket shelf, which makes it a reasonable option to try when chicken or beef have not suited a dog. Naturo build this recipe around 65% duck, with brown rice at 12.5% and vegetables at 10%, and go further than most wet foods in naming exactly where the smaller ingredients come from, down to tomato powder at 0.15% and dried basil at 0.016%.

Duck is not the only animal protein here — salmon oil is included at 0.3%, alongside sunflower oil at 0.75% — so this is not a strict single-protein recipe even though duck leads by a wide margin. Crude protein comes out at 9.5%, crude fat 7.5%, crude fibre 0.5%, crude ash 4% and moisture 73%, with an energy value of 121 kcal per 100g. Naturo's feeding guide runs from half a tray for dogs up to 5kg to 2¾-3½ trays for dogs 31-40kg.

On the salmon oil. Duck leads this recipe by a wide margin, but salmon oil is also present at 0.3% — worth knowing if you are avoiding fish specifically rather than looking for a change from chicken or beef.

Who it's for: owners of adult dogs trying duck as an alternative protein, who appreciate an unusually detailed ingredient breakdown rather than a vague composition list.
