Most dogs will eat their usual bowl faster if something is sprinkled over the top of it, which is the entire logic of a topper: it doesn't replace the meal underneath, it just makes the same meal more interesting on the days that need it.

This one is 80% chicken with apple (6%) and butternut squash (4.4%) alongside pea fibre, sweet potato, dried carrot, cranberries, blackberries, flaxseed and a handful of other named botanicals. It's freeze dried rather than cooked, which is the processing that keeps it shelf-stable without heat treatment, and it comes as a 40G pack. Protein is 39%, fat 32%, crude ash 8%, crude fibre 6% and moisture 6% — a dense little pack rather than a bulky one, which is normal for a freeze-dried format.

• 40G freeze-dried chicken topper
• 80% chicken, plus apple and butternut squash
• Protein 39%, fat 32%, crude ash 8%, crude fibre 6%, moisture 6%
• Freeze dried, for adult dogs
• Sprinkle over a usual bowl of dry or raw food

On what this is not. This is a complementary topper, not a complete food — Nature's Menu classify it that way, so it's meant to sit on top of a diet your dog is already eating, not replace one. There's no feeding amount given per bowl, so start with a light sprinkle rather than a fixed measure.

Who it's for: owners of adult dogs whose regular food could do with a lift, particularly if the dog is a fussy eater or recovering an appetite.
