Mason Cash Cane 15cm Lettered Water Bowl

A dog bowl with words on it is bought by the person, not the dog. That is not a criticism. The bowl sits on your floor, in your kitchen, for years, and the one you actually like the look of is the one that does not get hidden in a cupboard when people come round. It only means the useful questions about it are the ones the pattern does not answer.

Mason Cash make this one in heavy stoneware, and the weight is the functional part: their stated reason for the increased material weight is to stop the bowl being tipped over. The sides are thick, which they say is there to resist chipping, and the lettering is embossed into the body rather than printed onto it. It measures 15cm across, which Mason Cash also give as 6 inches, and they describe it as bite resistant and designed to keep water cooler for longer.

What the label does not say. No capacity is published anywhere on this bowl, in millilitres or otherwise, and no depth either, so the only size you have to go on is the 15cm across the top. That is a modest bowl rather than a big one. Mason Cash do not publish what the embossed lettering actually reads, either. And weight cuts both ways: stoneware heavy enough to stay where it is put is also heavy enough to break itself if it goes off a worktop onto a tiled floor.

Who it's for: small and medium dogs, and anyone with hard floors where a light bowl has nothing to grip. It also makes a sensible second water bowl for upstairs, since water is the one thing worth having in two places.
