Changing a dog's main food is a label-reading decision as much as a flavour choice. The useful questions are whether it is complete, which meat is named in the composition and whether the pack format suits the cupboard.

James Wellbeloved Turkey & Rice is a complete wet food in gravy for adult dogs. Turkey makes up 72% of the chunk and is listed as necks, heart, deboned ground turkey and liver; the recipe also contains a mix of white and brown rice, dried carrots and dried peas.

What the label does not settle. No storage instructions are supplied on the cards for this family.
