A dog who empties the bowl in seconds flat has an evening ahead with nothing in it. Hiding that same food inside something they have to take apart changes the picture completely, and this plush orange is built for exactly that. The segments peel back to reveal pockets, you tuck kibble or small treats into them, and your dog does the rest with their nose.

Scentwork is unusually tiring for how little it resembles exercise. A dog working a nose puzzle is concentrating hard, which is why a short foraging session often settles a dog that a long spell of ball throwing only winds up further. The whole toy is soft plush, so it can be mouthed, carried around the house and flung about without doing damage, and there is nothing rigid inside to crack or splinter.

• Peel-open segments hiding treat pockets
• Rewards natural sniffing and foraging
• Slows down fast eaters at mealtimes
• Soft plush throughout, safe to mouth and carry
• Works with kibble, small treats or a mix of both
• Low-impact enrichment for indoor days

It is an enrichment toy, not a chew. Plush will not survive a determined shredder, and no soft toy should be left with a dog who dismantles things unsupervised. Used as a supervised activity and put away afterwards, it lasts well. Handed to a committed destroyer as a chew, it will be stuffing on the carpet by teatime, and that stuffing is a vet problem if it goes down.

Who it's for: Clever dogs who bolt their food, or who run out of things to do on days indoors.
