A kitten's first foods set a template for what it will accept later, which is one reason so many kitten-specific wet foods lean toward a simple pate texture rather than anything with chunks to negotiate.

Chicken makes up 50% of the recipe, with yeast extract and tapioca starch alongside it, and sunflower oil at 0.5%. Cranberry, chicory and yucca extracts are all included in small amounts (150mg/kg, 50mg/kg and 50mg/kg respectively), and the pate comes out at 83% moisture.

• 50% chicken pate, grain-free
• Protein 10.5%, fat content 4.5%, crude fibre 0.1%, crude ash 1%, moisture 83%
• Calcium 0.22%, phosphorus 0.19%
• Cranberry, chicory and yucca extracts included in small amounts
• Especially formulated for kittens
• 8 x 70G pouches

What the label does not say. No specific feeding table by kitten age or weight is given on this card — HiLife's guidance sits on the pack itself, and given how quickly a kitten's needs change over its first year, it's worth checking that guide regularly rather than fixing a portion once.

Who it's for: owners of a young kitten looking for a grain-free pate texture as a first wet food, particularly if a smoother texture suits a kitten still getting used to solid food.
