Specifications

Brand: Hatchwell

Full description

A puppy or kitten that's never had anything done to its teeth before is far more likely to tolerate the process if it starts young, before it's had the chance to decide brushing is something to avoid.

Hatchwells' Puppy & Kit toothpaste is a meat-flavoured, non-enzyme formula with added calcium, aimed at fighting plaque and freshening breath. Hatchwell describe it as suitable for frequent use. It's a 45g pack, made in England.

On what's not supplied. Hatchwell don't give a recommended brushing frequency beyond "suitable for frequent use", or an exact age to start from, on this card. Introduce brushing gently and gradually with a young puppy or kitten, and stop if there's any sign of bleeding gums or discomfort.

Who it's for: owners of a puppy or kitten starting tooth care early, wanting a flavour designed to make the process easier.

Why we chose it

Starting dental care while an animal is young and more adaptable is genuinely easier than trying to introduce it later, and a puppy-and-kitten-specific formula is the sensible first buy for that. Meat flavour also does the job of making it something they'll actually tolerate.
