Full description

Fish on the front of a bag does not necessarily mean fish is the only animal ingredient inside, which matters when owners are comparing recipes closely.

Harringtons Adult Dog Salmon & Potato is complete dry food in a 1.7KG bag for dogs aged 8 weeks onwards. The composition lists 28% salmon and meat meals, including 7% dried salmon and 4% freshly prepared chicken. Potato is 4%, oats are 17%, chicken fat is 3% and the omega blend is 1.8%; maize and barley also appear. The analysis states 21% protein, 10% fat, 3.5% crude fibre and 8.5% crude ash.

1.7KG bag
Complete dry dog food
Salmon and meat meals: 28%
Potato: 4%
Protein: 21%

The flavour is not the whole formula. Chicken and chicken fat are present alongside salmon, and the recipe includes maize, oats and barley. That makes the full composition more useful than the salmon-and-potato title for anyone avoiding particular animal ingredients or grains.

Who it's for: dogs aged 8 weeks onwards whose owners want a complete salmon-led dry recipe and are comfortable with the declared chicken and cereal ingredients.

Why we chose it

The 28% salmon and meat meal figure gives shoppers something concrete to compare with the flavour name. The clear declaration of chicken, potato and cereals also helps prevent the wrong assumption about what the recipe leaves out.
