Full description

Lamb-based foods tend to get chosen for a specific reason — a dog that hasn't done well on chicken — which makes what's actually IN the lamb meal worth reading rather than assuming from the name. Harringtons' Lamb & Rice recipe is worth that closer look.

The "Lamb and Meat Meals" portion makes up 28% of the food, and within that 28%, dried lamb itself is 7%, with freshly prepared chicken adding a further 4%. The rest of the recipe includes maize, barley, oats, rice, chicken fat, an omega blend of salmon oil and linseed, plus seaweed and FOS.

Lamb and meat meals 28% (including dried lamb 7%, chicken 4%)
Crude protein 21%, crude fat 11%, crude ash 8.5%
Omega 6 at 1.8%, Omega 3 at 0.6%
Seaweed (1000mg/kg) included for oral hygiene
For dogs aged 8 weeks onwards

On the name. This is sold as "Lamb & Rice," but the dried lamb specifically is only 7% of the recipe, and there's also 4% chicken inside that same meat meal blend. If you're avoiding chicken for a sensitivity, this isn't a chicken-free food despite the name leading with lamb.

Who it's for: owners looking for a lamb-forward recipe as a change from chicken, who are comfortable with a small amount of chicken also being present in the blend.

Why we chose it

We stock this because it's a genuinely different flavour option to the chicken foods that dominate most shelves. We'd still rather tell you the chicken's in there than let the name do the talking.
