Specifications

Brand: Happy Pet

Full description

Some dogs would rather catch something mid-air than chase it along the ground, and a ring shape is easier to throw with accuracy than a ball.

Hoop La Hoop is a vinyl ring, 15cm across (roughly 6 inches), made to be thrown, caught and scooped up rather than chewed. Happy Pet sell it in a variety of colours.

On chewing. This is built as a throwing toy rather than a chew toy, and Happy Pet don't publish any guidance on how it holds up under sustained biting — vinyl generally punctures more easily than solid rubber, so keep an eye on it if your dog treats every toy as something to chew first and fetch second.

Who it's for: dogs that enjoy catching in mid-air as well as retrieving, and owners who want a toy with more surface to grab onto than a ball.

Happy Pet Hoop La Hoop

Why we chose it

A ring is a genuinely different shape from the balls that dominate most fetch ranges, and it's easier for some dogs to catch cleanly. At 0.1kg and 15cm across, it throws well without being awkward to carry back.
