Size guide & how to measure
Harnesses are sized by the chest (girth) — the measurement around the widest part of the ribcage, just behind the front legs.
How to measure
- Stand your dog up squarely.
- Wrap a soft tape around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
- Keep two fingers under the tape so the fit is snug, not tight.
- If your dog is between sizes, choose the larger one.
| Size | Typical chest / girth | Rough guide |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 28–40 cm | Toy breeds, very small dogs |
| S | 38–53 cm | Small dogs (e.g. Dachshund, Yorkie) |
| M | 50–68 cm | Medium dogs (e.g. Cocker Spaniel, Beagle) |
| L | 65–85 cm | Large dogs (e.g. Labrador, Boxer) |
| XL | 82–105 cm | Giant breeds (e.g. German Shepherd, Rottweiler) |
Ranges are approximate and vary by style. Always check this product’s Specifications for its exact measurements.
Full description
Putting a harness on is often the part a dog objects to most, well before the walk itself, which is why a design that goes on without lifting a leg through it is worth more than it sounds.
The Comfy Harness is made from high-grade nylon lined with soft fleece where it sits against the dog, and has an adjustable chest strap to get the fit right rather than one fixed size. Three-point button-release clips on each side let it open and close without threading a leg through anything, and a front control ring gives extra safety if it's used with a double-ended leash. Reflective 3M Scotchlite stitching runs through it for visibility in low light, and Halti state their walking range, including this harness, is suitable for puppies.
- High-grade nylon with soft fleece lining
- Adjustable chest strap
- 3-point button-release clips, no leg-lifting to put on
- Front control ring for use with a double-ended leash
- Reflective 3M Scotchlite stitching
- Suitable for puppies, per Halti's walking range
One thing worth knowing. Halti give the size range for this harness through an image-based size guide on their own page rather than a printed cm chart, so it's worth checking that guide directly — it comes in 5 sizes, but the exact measurements behind them aren't given as page text here.
Who it's for: owners of a dog that struggles to hold still for a harness going on, or one prone to chest rubbing on longer walks, who want a fleece-lined option with a front ring for extra control.

Why we chose it
The button-release clips are the practical reason to choose this over a step-in harness — there's no persuading a reluctant dog to lift a leg through a loop. Fleece lining on the chest strap is the other detail worth having, since that's exactly where a plain nylon strap tends to rub on a longer walk.
