How to measure
- Width: lighter, narrower webbing for small dogs; wider, thicker webbing for strong pullers and larger dogs.
- Standard lead (1.2–1.5 m): everyday pavement walks and training.
- Long line (3–10 m): recall practice and open spaces.
- Short / traffic lead (under 1 m): close control in busy areas.

Full description
There are two versions of this lead and the choice is worth a minute of thought. The rechargeable one is right if you walk in the dark most evenings from October through to March, because it plugs in alongside the phone and is simply always ready. The battery version is the better buy for occasional use: a cell left in a drawer for six months will still work, where a lithium pack quietly runs itself flat.
Underneath the light it is a conventional nylon lead, 2.5cm wide and 120cm long. That is the standard pavement length, short enough to keep a dog off the kerb and long enough that they can sniff along a hedge without dragging you sideways. Eight colours are made, and the lit line down the length is what a driver actually reads, because it shows where the person ends and the dog begins.

What is not published. There is no breaking strain given, and nothing tells us whether the battery version arrives with cells fitted, so assume it does not and have a set in the house. Treat the light as a visibility aid rather than a control aid too: what stops a dog pulling is a well-fitted harness and some training, never a brighter lead.
