Rotating protein within a diet, rather than sticking to one meat for months, is one of the more common bits of advice for a dog with a sensitive gut — not because any single protein is wrong, but because variety spreads the risk of a reaction developing to any one of them.

This 12-pack pairs two grain-free recipes: Chicken with Butternut Squash & Vegetables and Duck with Potato & Vegetables. The chicken recipe is 75% chicken; the duck recipe analyses at 10.5% protein, 9.5% fat, 0.7% fibre, 3.5% ash and 70% moisture, close to but not identical to the chicken recipe's 11% protein and 8% fat.

• 12-pack, chicken and duck grain-free recipes
• Chicken with Butternut Squash & Vegetables: chicken 75%
• Duck with Potato & Vegetables
• Duck recipe: protein 10.5%, fat 9.5%, fibre 0.7%, ash 3.5%
• Chicken recipe: protein 11%, fat 8%
• Fridge after opening, use within 48 hours

On the two recipes. The duck and chicken recipes analyse slightly differently rather than identically — the duck recipe runs a little lower in protein and a little higher in fat. Worth knowing if you're tracking either figure closely rather than assuming the pack is uniform.

Who it's for: owners who want to alternate between two poultry proteins for a dog prone to getting bored, or as a gentle way of introducing duck alongside a familiar chicken recipe.
