A dog's digestion tends to be more sensitive to sudden change than most other things about it, which is why gut-support ingredients are usually aimed at gradual, ongoing support rather than fixing an already-upset stomach on the spot.

Forthglade's Chicken Broth Topper is 98% chicken bone broth, with inulin (0.4%), dried pumpkin powder (0.4%), mannan-oligosaccharide (0.2%), yucca schidigera (0.2%) and parsley (0.1%) added — all ingredients associated with digestive support rather than the joint-focused blend in Forthglade's beef version. It's grain-free and complementary, with Forthglade's guidance at around 45g added to dry food daily, four servings per 180g pouch, reducing the main meal slightly to account for the extra calories. It's very low in everything but moisture: protein 3.5%, fat 1%, fibre 0.6%, ash 1.2%, moisture 95%, at 15.97kcal per 100g.

• Chicken bone broth 98%
• Inulin and dried pumpkin powder at 0.4% each
• Mannan-oligosaccharide and yucca schidigera at 0.2% each
• ~45g a day added to dry food (4 servings per 180g pouch)
• 15.97kcal/100g
• Grain-free; a topper, not a meal replacement

What the gut-support ingredients don't confirm. Inulin, pumpkin powder, MOS and yucca schidigera are genuinely included, but at these small percentages with no dosed clinical amount stated, this is a gentle, ongoing inclusion rather than a treatment for an active digestive upset — a dog with a genuine digestive problem still needs a vet.

Who it's for: owners wanting to add moisture and gentle digestive support to an existing dry food, rather than treating an active stomach upset.
