Product description
Walking a dog on winter evenings means being seen by drivers before they are close enough to stop. Reflective strips run along the straps here so that headlights pick the dog out from the side as well as head-on, which is the angle that matters at junctions and driveways. The rest of it is a padded vest harness, built to be pulled against without hurting.
Padding sits between the webbing and the dog across the chest and behind the front legs, spreading a lunge over a wide area rather than a narrow strap, and the buckle is a quick-release, so the whole thing comes off in one hand after a muddy walk. The D-ring takes a standard lead, and running a second point of contact from the ring and the collar together gives more steering than either alone on a dog that leans.
- Padded vest harness with reflective stitching
- Quick-release buckle
- Sturdy D-ring for a standard lead
- Adjustable straps
- Small and medium, in several colours
- 150g to 180g depending on size
Two things worth knowing. This has been advertised both as a heavy-duty no-pull rig and as a light everyday harness for small dogs. At 150 to 180 grams it is the lighter kind, and a back-clip harness does not itself stop pulling, it makes pulling comfortable. With a strong puller, use a front clip and training alongside it. Measure the chest girth behind the front legs rather than going by weight.
Who it's for: Small and medium dogs walked at dawn and dusk, whose owners want visibility and padding rather than brute strength.
Why we chose it
Reflective strips run along the straps rather than sitting in one patch, so headlights pick the dog out from the side as well as head-on, which is the angle that matters at junctions. Measure the chest girth, not the weight.
