Size guide & how to measure
Harnesses are sized by the chest (girth) — the measurement around the widest part of the ribcage, just behind the front legs.
How to measure
- Stand your dog up squarely.
- Wrap a soft tape around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
- Keep two fingers under the tape so the fit is snug, not tight.
- If your dog is between sizes, choose the larger one.
| Size | Typical chest / girth | Rough guide |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 28–40 cm | Toy breeds, very small dogs |
| S | 38–53 cm | Small dogs (e.g. Dachshund, Yorkie) |
| M | 50–68 cm | Medium dogs (e.g. Cocker Spaniel, Beagle) |
| L | 65–85 cm | Large dogs (e.g. Labrador, Boxer) |
| XL | 82–105 cm | Giant breeds (e.g. German Shepherd, Rottweiler) |
Ranges are approximate and vary by style. Always check this product’s Specifications for its exact measurements.
Full description
Most dogs that pull do it from the chest, not the neck, which is why steering a harness from the front changes how a walk feels almost immediately, even before any training has happened.
The Halti No Pull Harness works two ways at once: a lifting action that discourages pulling, and a front D-ring for steering, which the Company of Animals say can be used on their own or together depending on how strongly a dog pulls. It's padded at the chest and legs, comes in four sizes, and is fully adjustable within each size.
- Front control steering plus a no-pull lifting action
- Padded chest and leg straps
- Fully adjustable
- Available in four sizes
- Suitable for flat-nosed breeds that can't wear a headcollar
- Available in black or blue
On sizing. The Company of Animals sell this across four sizes and say to use their own size guide to find the right fit, but the guide itself — girth measurements against size — isn't part of the information passed to us, so measure your dog and check the maker's chart before ordering rather than guessing from the name.
Who it's for: owners of a dog that pulls on the lead, including flat-nosed breeds that can't comfortably wear a headcollar, who want front steering as well as a harness rather than a collar alone.

Why we chose it
The combination of lifting action and front steering gives you two ways to manage a puller rather than betting everything on one mechanism, and it works for flat-nosed breeds that a headcollar simply doesn't suit. It's designed to pair with the Halti Training Lead, but it's a genuine harness on its own if that's all you need.
