Specifications

Material: Soft foam ball at the end, on a soft padded handle
Brand: Coachi
Material: Soft foam ball at the end, on a soft padded handle

Full description

A voice cue can be inconsistent between family members, but a visual target does the same job every time regardless of who's holding it, which is the actual case for a target stick in clicker training.

Coachi's Target Stick has a soft foam ball at the end of a soft padded handle, used to lure a dog into position rather than relying on a verbal cue alone. It's telescopic, extending to 70cm for distance work and retracting to just 15cm so it fits in a pocket or treat bag between uses, with the target ball itself measuring 30mm across.

Extends to 70cm; retracts to 15cm
Soft foam ball target, 30mm diameter
Soft padded handle
Telescopic design for portability
Suitable for puppy training, basic obedience (sit, down) and advanced trick or agility work

One thing worth knowing. Coachi don't specify what the padded handle itself is made from beyond "soft", and no cleaning guidance is given if it picks up mud or water during outdoor use.

Who it's for: owners doing clicker training, luring or agility work who want a consistent visual target rather than relying on voice alone, and like that it folds down small enough for a pocket.

Coachi Target Stick Blue

Why we chose it

A target stick solves the actual problem with lure-based training — getting a dog to focus on something precise rather than a moving hand — and the telescopic design means it isn't a nuisance to carry between the times you need it. 70cm of reach is enough for real distance work, not just close-up luring.
