A textured rubber toy does two things a smooth one can't — it grips better in a wet mouth, and the raised surface works a bit like a toothbrush against the gums as a dog chews it.

This is a 50mm rubber ball with a raised pimple surface and a bell inside, fixed to a rope handle. The rope means it doubles as a tug toy or a throw toy, and Classic sell it in red, blue or purple.

• 50mm pimple-textured rubber ball
• Bell fitted inside
• Rope handle for tug or throw play
• Available in red, blue or purple
• Solid rubber construction

On the gum-massage claim. Classic describe the raised texture as giving a gum massage during chewing — that's the manufacturer's own framing rather than anything independently measured, so treat it as a texture benefit rather than a dental-health guarantee.

Who it's for: dogs that enjoy both tug and fetch, and owners who want one toy that covers both without the ball rolling away unretrievable.
